About the Piece
This piece I wrote for Alto Sax and Viola. I thought these two instruments, both being in the alto range, would blend well together. So, I was eager to give it a try. While writing this, I was listening to a lot of music from the Renaissance period, particularly John Dowland's lute songs which I managed to get a hold of a large collection on CD. I managed to incorporate a theme from a piece entitled "Dowland's Galliard" starting at measure 48 – 55.
